Curriculum Based Measurement or Progress Monitoring

“Curriculum-Based Measurement - A simple set of procedures for repeated measurement of student growth toward long-range instructional goals.” – Stan Deno, 1985 -

Starting with Stanley Deno in the 1970s, Curriculum-Based Measurement (CBM) or progress monitoring has evolved into an effective tool to measure student achievement over time.  CBMs are a method teachers use to find out how students are progressing in basic academic areas such as math, reading, writing, and spelling.  CBMs can be helpful because they provide current, week-by-week information on the progress students are making.  Get to know CBM/Progress Monitoring by browsing through the first set of websites.  Explore more by investigating the free and pay websites for measures and probes in mathematics, reading, and writing.
